of Commerce
The Chamber…What is it?
The Opp Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary organization
of our business community. The Chamber is a private non-profit organization.
It unites our business and professional firms, and creates a unique
central agency to improve business and build a better community. Over
90% of our membership is comprised of small businesses and interested
individuals just like you. People who realize that through the Chamber
they can accomplish collectively what no one of us can do individually.
Chamber Benefits And Why I Should Join:
• UPDATE: A quarterly publication that
keeps you informed.
• A membership directory with your listing as you desire.
• Serving on one of the chamber’s working committees. Take
your choice and help us make a difference.
• Member referrals: When the chamber receives inquiries regarding
businesses in our area, ONLY members are referred.
• Information Packets: Sent to hundreds of visitors who write
or call indicating an interest in the area.
• Your Chamber works closely with the Covington County United
Fund Drive and serves as a local contact point for all workers and contributors.
• Your Chamber sponsors quarterly Town Hall Meetings to keep the
citizens informed and to hear their concerns.
• Your Chamber sponsors the Farmer’s Appreciation Banquet,
Annual Membership Banquet, Opp Hall of Fame, Spring & Fall Clean-Up
Campaigns, Community Service Awards, Opp Fest Art Contest, and Opp’s
Christmas Parade.
• The Chamber disburses information to industrial, commercial
and residential prospects. They disburse information to travelers, students
and local residents.
• Your Chamber is a liaison between you and your federal and state
officials, the Alabama Development Office, the Alabama Department of
Economic and Community Affairs, the Alabama Bureau of Tourism and Travel,
the Southeast Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission and
Covington County Economic Development Commission.
• The Chamber works closely with all elected officials to improve
business and living conditions in our community.
• The Chamber has a web page with information about Opp and a
listing of its membership. The Chamber encourages members with web pages
to have their page linked to ours to help generate interest in their
business.
• Chamber Corner – article published in the Opp News monthly
to spotlight Chamber activities and members.

The Opp Chamber of Commerce is holding its annual
membership drive and we invite you to become a member. The Chamber is
a private organization, which unites our businesses and professional
firms, and creates a unique central agency to improve business and build
a better community.
During the year the Chamber sponsors many events
that take hours of preparation and hard work. Many of these events,
people think just happen. By becoming a member of the Chamber you can
help these things happen. You help to unify the public spirit of our
community which directs into useful and constructive channels.
Enclosed is a copy of our dues structure and
membership data sheet. We hope that you will return the data sheet along
with your investment. Your investment dollars are certainly important
to our operating budget but even more important is your participation.
